Carl Shubs is a self-taught photographer. He began working with film during college, but switching to digital after his dream trip on safari in Africa in 2001 freed him to be more adventurous in following his inspirations.
His first exhibit was in 20ll, as part of a group show at the Museum of Neon and Kinetic Art, in Los Angeles. That recognition encouraged him to deepen his commitment to photography and to begin showing his work.
In 2014 he was accepted into membership in the Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA), and he is also a member of the Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP). Since that time, he has been in many exhibitions, and some of his acclaimed jurors have included Andi Campognone, Peter Frank, Herair & Lori Garboushian, Elizabeth Avedon, Greg Gorman, Jim Morphesis, Shana Nys Dambrot, and Richard Vogel.
He has won awards and honors and had his work published in such prestigious publications as Lenscratch, F-Stop Magazine, and the Photographer's Forum hardcover book Best of Photography 2015. He is also proud to have curated a combination solo exhibit and group show that included seventeen amazing artists who work in a variety of media.
